About Rogers Rookie Tourrockie tour

Welcome to the Rogers Rookie Tour, a national program designed to bridge the gap between entry-level tennis and the provincial competitive junior circuit. Rookie Tour events have been met with a great deal of success in many provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia, and the Prairie and Atlantic regions, and it is this success that has led to the development of a national program based on the Rookie Tour concept. The Rogers Rookie Tour has the potential to reach thousands of juniors each year at tennis clubs and tennis centres throughout the country, and can encourage these players to continue through the tennis pathway to become regular competitors and/or lifelong tennis enthusiasts.

Rogers Rookie Tour Highlights

- Boys and girls up to the age of 18 are eligible to participate

- All events are non-elimination tournaments for unranked or lower-ranked youngsters with multiple opportunities to play regardless of result

- Positive learning environment to develop and display tennis and sportsmanship skills while competing against a variety of opponents

- Under 12 age groups may use the Progressive Tennis format. Progressive tennis is a program for 5-12 year olds which allows young players to learn and play the game more quickly, efficiently and successfully through a progression of court sizes, balls, and racquets. "Hit With The Pros"Kassautzki_Graeme.jpg

This is a club/recreational tennis player’s dream...an opportunity to hit with 2 top ranked B.C. players!! We have Graeme Kassautzki, who has just finished his career at Univ. of New Mexico (full scholarship) and former BC #1 player, has confirmed. We are waiting on confirmation of the second player. This is also an opportunity to contribute to NETS fund raising efforts….be a part of the legacy! You can register as a hitter or as a non-hitter. Only these 2 categories of registrants will participate in the BBQ, and be able to purchase alcohol.

Play Format:

There will be 8 courts in rotational doubles play. Each court will play for ½ an hour. The pros will be on Court 3, each one looking for partners!  At the beginning of play, you will receive a player and court number by random draw, and a chart giving you the order of your court assignments. On the completion of each ½ hour play, you will move to the court as indicated by your chart.

"About NETS (North East Tennis Society)"

The North East Tennis Society is a registered non-profit organization whose primary mission is to promote and facilitate the establishment of an affordable and accessible community -based indoor racquet sports facility in the north east sector of the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

A major priority for NETS has been the raising of community awareness of the need for an indoor racquet sports facility. To that end, we have developed and distributed a community wide petition. To date, we have secured over 1,000 signatures. We have also successfully reached out to local tennis clubs and tennis enthusiasts to serve as NETS volunteers. We have increased the profile of tennis in the local sports community, and now have the attention of Coquitlam Council…we’ve made it to the city’s list of Unfunded Capital Projects…we’re on the radar!

This festival is, hopefully, a first annual event. Its purpose is 3 fold…to raise awareness, to grow racquet sports, and to raise funds for NETS’ vision…thank you for being a part of the legacy!!
